Sigi The Hedgehog

NEW! Sigi, an adorable 8" hedgehog , comes to us from Margarete’s Country Garden! He is made of finest mohair and high-quality alpaca and comes complete with high-quality music-box! Fritzle's successor can move his head in a circular motion in time to the music. He plays "Muss i denn, …" as Margarete Steiff herself played on the zither in 1862. A curious worm peeks out of an apple, both are handmade of felted wool. Sigi The Hedgehog and Fritzle The Rabbit are the first of the Margarete’s Country Garden series of animals. Imagine you are back in 1862. Margarete Steiff is a young lady sitting in her parents' garden. It is summer, the sun is shining, the flowers are in full bloom and the bees are humming. As well as weilding a needle, Margatete uses her nimble fingers to play the zither, for which she has a passion. So she is sitting there, playing a few tunes herself. Sigi and Fritzle are the first in this series of remarkable Steiff editions. Both have high quality music boxes and mechanisms to bring them to life. Sigi is a 2008 Worldwide Edition.
